Due to the poor timing of Mayor Affleck's 'incredible' rescue and Dr Gruffudd's insistence on 'at least' 48 hours bedrest, a decision has been taken to delay all New Year celebrations until the 10th of January.

"I don't like it any more than you do," commented Deputy Mayor Damon, pointing out that he had a long-standing trombone lesson scheduled for that particular evening. "But we can't really ask the mayor to miss out on all the New Year's Eve fun. Not after all he's been through."

When asked to comment further on the predicament from which Mayor Affleck had only just been rescued, Deputy Mayor Damon declared the press conference to be 'so over'.
